New to HP Talented & Gifted Transfer Process
Students new to HPISD who were identified as needing Gifted Services in another district may register their child for assessment by the HPISD TAG Program within four weeks of enrollment. Parents should forward any documentation, including assessment data and/or letters of the provided services, to the campus TAG Coordinator to expedite the process. Because GT services and assessment procedures differ from district to district, HPISD will accept assessment data from a student's previous district, provided the following criteria are met:
-
- Assessments used are the same or closely resemble those that we administer
- Assessment scores are less than 2 years old
- Assessment scores meet HPISD's internal requirements
Students new to HPISD from a private school or school district that does NOT provide GT Services may register below to take TAG assessments once enrollment is complete in HPISD. Parents may contact the campus TAG Coordinator or Director of TAG Services for more information.
SPECIAL NOTE: Students may NOT test twice in the same academic year. Therefore, if a student is assessed after enrollment, they are NOT eligible for spring, district-wide testing. Students must wait until the Spring of the following school year. We recommend that new students to Highland Park delay testing until spring, once they have become acclimated to our district.
General timeline for new student testing:
| Date of Enrollment | Grade | Testing Date |
| After the first day of school / During the school year | 2-12 | Scheduled after TAG registration is received by the Campus TAG Coordinator |
| Spring or Summer before the first day of school | 5-12 | Monday, August 4, 2025 |
| Spring or Summer before the first day of school | 2-4 | Approximately 3 weeks after the first day of school |
