TAG Referrals (New Students)
Students new to HPISD that were identified as needing Gifted Services in another district, may register their child to be assessed by the HPISD TAG Program within 4 weeks of enrollment. Parents should forward any documentation including assessment data and/or letters of the provided services to the campus TAG Coordinator to expedite the process. Because GT services and assessment procedures differ from district to district, HPISD will accept assessment data from a student's previous district provided the following criteria are met:
-
- assessments used are the same or closely resemble those that we administer
- assessments scores are less than 2 years old
- assessment scores meet HPISD's internal requirements
Students new to HPISD from a school or district that does not provide GT Services will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
SPECIAL NOTE: Students may NOT test twice in the same academic year. Therefore, if a student is assessed after enrollment, they are NOT eligible for spring, district-wide testing. Students must wait until the Spring of the following school year. It is our recomendation that new students to Highland Park delay testing until spring, once they are acclimated to our district.
