Requesting a Student Transfer

HPISD has two types of student transfers, intradistrict and interdistrict. The school year request window for both types of transfers opens annually on May 1.

The Intradistrict Transfer is for a resident parent/guardian requesting a voluntary transfer for his/her student to attend a different HPISD elementary school.

• This transfer request form opens annually on May 1 and remains open throughout the summer.
• Decisions are made prior to the close of Back to School Sign Up.

The Interdistrict Transfer is for an eligible full-time professional employee requesting a transfer for his/her nonresident student to attend grades K-12 in HPISD. 

• Please prepare PDF copies of your student’s attendance and behavior/discipline records to upload with the transfer request form.
• This transfer request form opens annually on May 1 for eligible current employees. New hires must apply within thirty days of their hire date.
  The transfer request window ends 45 days before the first day of instruction, which is June 30, 2024 for the 2024-25 school year. 
• Decisions are made prior to the close of Back to School Sign Up.
