La Fiesta de las Seis Banderas
La Fiesta de las Seis Banderas, “The Park Cities Festival Meeting Community Needs”, was founded in 1986 to provide for educational, charitable, and civic needs by receiving, investing and disbursing funds to a number of beneficiaries.
Since 1986, La Fiesta de las Seis Banderas has gifted more than $10 million to Highland Park ISD. Through its continued generosity, La Fiesta supports a wide range of HP programs, including:
-
HP Education Foundation
-
Fine Arts initiatives across HPISD
-
HP Literary Festival
-
HP Science Festival
-
Student leadership and service programs
-
Counseling and student support services
-
Emergency assistance funds for students and families
La Fiesta de las Seis Banderas is committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen students and school communities. Through a partnership with Highland Park ISD and the Highland Park Education Foundation, La Fiesta proudly helped bring two trained therapy dogs — Piper and Lassie — to HPISD campuses to support student well-being. La Fiesta’s investment made it possible to welcome both dogs and expand this important source of emotional support for students and staff.
Piper and Lassie are Bernedoodles chosen for their gentle temperament and hypoallergenic qualities. After months of professional training, they now serve alongside their handlers, Chief Mark Rowden and Officer Michael Bridgewater, providing comfort, connection, and reassurance to students across the district.
“Supporting the HPISD therapy dog program was an easy decision for us. La Fiesta de las Seis Banderas is committed to strengthening our community, and these dogs bring comfort, connection, and emotional support to students, teachers, and staff every single day,” said Chris Palmer, La Fiesta Board President.
