HPISD Recognizes Trustee Jae Ellis for Six Years of Dedicated Service

Reflecting on his time on the board, Ellis shared that his favorite part of serving as a trustee was “celebrating the accomplishments and success of the HPISD students, teachers, administration, parents, volunteers, and community members.”

Ellis expressed his gratitude and shared a heartfelt message with his fellow trustees and community members. “I am thankful for the opportunity to have served our community in this role. We are all united in our love for our public schools and for our community, especially in these times when strong forces are trying to destroy our public schools. Please never forget that what unites us is so much greater than anything that could ever divide us.”

As he officially passed the baton to newly elected Trustee Michael Denton, Ellis reflected on their decades-long friendship, which began in the halls of Highland Park High School. “Michael Denton and I have been friends for four decades. In the late 1980s, we sang together for the HPHS Lads & Lassies choir, and we played football together for the HP Scots. Michael was also a sprinter for the HPHS track team. Although I never had the opportunity to run in a relay race with Michael, on Tuesday, I will finally have the opportunity to pass the baton to this new Trustee who has a long history of service to HPISD.”

HPISD thanks Jae Ellis for his leadership, advocacy, and passion for public education. His legacy of service will continue to inspire future generations of Scots.
