The HP boys took third place overall at the UIL 5A Swimming and Diving State Championship Meet Feb. 16 at UT-Austin.
The relay team of Max Van Cauwelaert, Henry Wang, Ethan Nguyen and Peter Paulus claimed a second consecutive State Championship title in the 200 Medley Relay.

Paulus won the 100 Breaststroke event and was joined on the podium by Wang, who placed third. Both swims broke HPHS team records set in 1995. Paulus also captured a bronze medal in the 50 Freestyle.
The girls team placed 23rd out of the 66 teams competing, led by Maddy Helton's ninth-place finish in the 100 Backstroke and Lindsey Hosch's 10th-place finish in the 100 Butterfly.
"We had a great weekend of swimming and diving," Head Coach Jesse Cole said. "The kids competed very well at state. It was exciting to see all their hard work pay off this year!"
