Scots advance to state championship game; will face Alvin Shadow Creek Saturday at AT&T Stadium

The Highland Park Scots dominated undefeated Denton Ryan 43-21 Saturday in the state semifinals, and will face Alvin Shadow Creek this weekend in their quest for a third consecutive state championship.

Kick-off for the 5A Division I state final is at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. Click here for the playoff bracket.

"The Scots are in position to do something extraordinary," HPISD Athletic Director Johnny Ringo said. "Only 17 other Texas high schools have ever won three state championships in a row. We will have our hands full with Shadow Creek and need all the fan support at the game that we can get. I know the game will hold a special significance for Coach Allen, since the head coach at Shadow Creek was his starting quarterback at Brownwood 30 years ago."

"I'm just so proud of these players and how hard they are working to achieve their goal," Head Football Coach Randy Allen said. "Even though every team has been shooting for them, they take nothing for granted. We're all really excited about Saturday's game."

The community is invited to a special State Championship pep rally at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21 in the HPHS main gym and to a send-off for the team at 7:50 a.m. Saturday in front of Highlander Stadium.
