Katie Schuttler joins Highland Park ISD from Carroll ISD, where she served as principal of Eubanks Intermediate School and as an assistant principal at Carroll High School. She brings 14 years of campus administrative experience and a strong track record of academic success. During her tenure, Eubanks earned an A rating every year, along with statewide Distinction Designations in Reading/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Academic Growth, Closing the Gaps, and Postsecondary Readiness.
“I am truly honored for the opportunity to lead McCulloch Intermediate School,” said Schuttler. “I look forward to getting to know our students, families, and staff. Together, we will make the 5th- and 6th-grade experience outstanding for every learner.”
Stefanie Powell will serve as principal of Highland Park Middle School after two years in Highland Park ISD as both an instructional coach and assistant principal. She brings seven years of campus administrative experience and a deep appreciation for the district’s culture and expectations.
“Over the past two years, I’ve come to value the high expectations that define Highland Park ISD and the opportunities we have to grow even stronger,” said Powell. “I’m excited to work alongside our students, staff, and families to build on what’s working and thoughtfully improve where we can as we continue moving Highland Park Middle School forward.”
HPISD Superintendent Dr. Mike Rockwood expressed confidence in both leaders. “We gathered significant input from MIS and HPMS teachers and staff, district leaders, and parents throughout this search,” he said. “After careful consideration, we are fortunate to have not one, but two exceptional leaders committed to the success of our students. I am confident Katie and Stefanie will meet the unique needs of each campus while working together to ensure an outstanding experience for all students in grades 5 through 8.”
MIS and HPMS teachers and staff will have the opportunity to meet both leaders on Wednesday, April 29 after school. Parents are invited to welcome the new principals at an informal meet and greet on Thursday, April 30 from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the MIS/HPMS foyer, or on Friday, May 8 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. (location to be communicated later).
Please join us in congratulating these outstanding administrators as they begin their new roles in HPISD, effective June 1.
