Scots welcome new swim and dive team coach

He follows retiring head coach Jesse Cole who coached the team for 15 years.

Pullano comes to HPISD from Granbury High School, where he served as an Instructional Technology Coordinator and Head Swim Coach. He previously taught biology and aquatics in Granbury and, while there, led the boys and girls swim teams to eight consecutive district titles and four consecutive top-two finishes at the Region 2-5A championship meet.

Pullano earned a bachelor's degree from Ouachita Baptist University, and he is currently pursuing a master's degree in Educational Leadership at Tarleton State University.

"The staff and students at Highland Park High School have a history of excellence. I've had the pleasure to compete against the Scots at the state level over the last eight years and I have always been impressed by the work of Coach Cole and his athletes," Pullano said. "Coach Cole leaves a long legacy in Texas high school coaching. It's a privilege to follow in his footsteps and to honor that legacy as we move forward. I'm excited to be a Scot and to build on this program at the 6A level while also supporting the newly-minted water polo program."

"HPISD has hired the top young swim coach in Texas in Jason Pullano," Athletic Director Rodney Webb said. "He brings a tremendous record of excellence with him in both the pool and the classroom."

Coach Pullano is married to Jennifer Pullano, who has accepted a second-grade teaching position at University Park Elementary. They are the proud parents of 2-year-old daughter Quinn, who is looking forward to one day being a Lady Scot herself.
