Message from the superintendent

The mass shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde is, once again, for those of us who work in theHPISD Superintendent of Schools Dr. Tom Trigg field of education, so incredibly painful. When we hear about incidents such as these, our hearts are filled with excruciating sadness for the families and communities whose lives will never, ever be the same. To say we are heartbroken for our colleagues and fellow Texans is indeed an understatement.

During these last three days left in the school year, even though we are not aware of any threats, please know that we will increase our police presence on our campuses. The increased police presence is a result of ongoing collaboration between HPISD Police and other local authorities. Whether your child attends a school in the City of University Park, City of Dallas or Town of Highland Park, please rest assured that we are working with our brave men and women in these municipalities to ensure that everyone—students, staff and families—is safe on our campuses.

Thank you for your continued support and please pray for the entire Uvalde community.

Sincerely,
Dr. Tom Trigg
HPISD Superintendent
