HP gymnastics teams are state bound

The Scots gymnasts finished second at the regional meet April 12 with a combined two-day total of 331 points, and qualified to advance to the Texas High School Gymnastics Association (THSGCA) State Championship Meet.
 
Junior Clay Staunton remains undefeated in the All-Around, and won six of seven individual events.
 
Junior Austin Chapman finished third in the All-Around, and placed in the top 10 in every individual event - second on Floor, third on Rings and Parallel Bars, fifth on Pommel Horse, sixth on Vault and seventh on Horizonal Bar.

To top off a great meet, Coach Mark Sherman was named Regional Coach of the Year.
 
 
HP Girls Gymnastics State Bound 2022 
 
The Lady Scots gymnasts had an incredible regional competition finishing in second place as a team, and will head to the state championship meet ranked sixth in the state.
Sophomore Ana Simpson led the team scoring 9.5 or higher on all events on Day 1, and winning Vault on Day 2. She placed third All-Around, fourth on Vault, sixth on Bars, third on Beam, and ninth on Floor.
 
Other top-10 performances included:
 
Senior Captain Kennedy Downing placed fourth All-Around, third on Vault, seventh on Bars, fifth on Beam, and fourth on Floor.
Sophomore Lily Ford placed fifth All-Around, ninth on Vault, ninth on Bars, second on Beam, and sixth on Floor.
 
Senior Captain Linda Tran placed seventh All-Around, 12th on Vault, fifth on Bars, ninth on Beam, and 15th on Floor.
