Lady Scots cross country team takes 5th place at state

The Lady Scots cross country team made its 47th consecutive appearance at State, finishing fifth in the field of 16 teams at the UIL 5A State Championship Meet Nov. 5. The team was led by junior Sara Cavey who placed 19th overall. Teammates Charlotte Hudson, Kayla Dickerson, Grace Hathaway and Alli Grace Ott finished 32nd, 43rd, 55th and 67th, respectively. There are a total of 256 cross country teams in the 5A UIL Class and HP was one of only 16 teams to advance to state this year. Since 1975, the first year girls ran cross country, HP has been represented at state by the entire team or an individual runner every year. The Lady Scots outstanding season includes their 43rd district championship, which the team won in October.
