Highland Park High School junior Evan Wang finished third in Lincoln Douglas debate at the 5A UIL Academic State Speech and Debate tournament May 26. The speech and debate contests were the final UIL academic competitions of the year. Students competing in the Lincoln Douglas debate perfect their skills in research to formulate ideas into a formal argument for a persuasive presentation. The event encompasses several academic areas including philosophy, history, social science, rhetoric, communication ethics and political science.
