Academic Decathlon team wins third state championship

The HPHS Academic Decathlon team won its third state title in four years at the 2019 Medium Division State Championship March 10 in Frisco. The team scored a total of 50,240.7 points, and each team member will be awarded a $1,200 scholarship for winning the team championship.
 
HP's overall winners included:
 
Honor Division:
  • Jean Ye - Fourth place overall with a $1,000 scholarship 
Scholastic Division:
  • Jenny Feng - First place overall with a $3,500 scholarship
  • Lucas Francisco - Tied for second place overall with a $2,500 scholarship 
Varsity Division:
  • McKenna Jordan - Third place overall with a $1,500 scholarship
