Highland Park wrestlers finished third as a team at the UIL 5A State Championship Meet Feb. 23 in Cypress.
Senior Aiden Conner won his third consecutive individual title, this time in the 285-pound weight class. Junior Spencer Bucholz was the runner-up at 145 pounds, and seniors Colby Hopkins and McClain Matter took sixth place in their events. Senior Jeremy Hanes and junior Carter Puckett also scored points for the team.
"I couldn't have been more pleased or proud of how our wrestlers performed this weekend on the biggest stage in Texas high school wrestling," Head Coach Tim Marzuola said.
Marzuola was inducted into the Texas Wrestling Hall of Fame at the tournament, and Head Athletic Trainer Jay Harris was inducted into the Texas Wrestling Hall of Honor, only the second trainer ever inducted.
