The HPISD “Heart At Work” Award

Education requires compassionate adults meeting the needs of children. The “Heart At Work” award in HPISD provides us a chance to recognize and celebrate those staff members who make the well-being of our students a priority.

All employees of HPISD are eligible to be recognized for being "Heart At Work." Each staff member recognized will receive a certificate and "Heart" pin to honor their service to others. Each campus (including the District office) will celebrate "Heart At Work" recipients each month.

All employees recognized throughout the year will be eligible for the "Heart At Work" award from their campus for 2021-2022. From those, one certified and one non-exempt employee from each campus and the District office will be honored at the annual district awards banquet. Each of these will receive $500.

This award is generously provided by the Highland Park Education Foundation’s William P. Clements, Jr. Endowment established by the Clements Foundation in 2018.

“Heart  At Work” Award Nomination Information:

We are now accepting nominations for the current school year, and appreciate your participation. We are looking for the “unsung heroes” who are going the “extra mile” in serving our students, staff, families and community. These staff members display the qualities of having a servant’s heart, make a difference in the lives of others, and inspire other HPISD employees through their actions. Each person nominated will be recognized with a certificate and in the district E-News. In the spring, the District “Heart At Work” award committee will review all those recognized on each campus and choose one certified, and one non-exempt staff member from each campus and the District office to be honored and awarded $500 at the annual staff recognition banquet.

"Heart At Work" nominations can be submitted by teachers, administrators, staff, students, parents, families and anyone interested in the well-being of our HPISD community. Candidates can not be nominated by relatives.

All nominations must be submitted on the “Heart At Work” award nomination form and sent electronically by the last day of each month from now through Spring Break. Nominees submitted after Spring Break will be considered in the proceeding award cycle of winners.

Criteria for the award include:

  • Outstanding service to the well-being of a student/family on your campus/district
  • Modeling one of the Educator for the Future tenets
  • Going the “extra mile” to make a difference for an individual student, family or community
