HPISD Board of Trustees approves revisions to the district's mission, beliefs and strategic objectives

Following months of discussion, the HPISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved revisions to the district's mission, beliefs, and strategic objectives during its September meeting. The board also approved the addition of a vision statement.

Here is the approved language as it appears on the district's website:
 
Mission:

Highland Park ISD, grounded in tradition and with an unyielding commitment to excellence, academics, integrity, citizenship, and service, empowers each and every student to achieve post-secondary success.
 
Vision:

Unrivaled post-secondary success for each and every student
 
Beliefs:
We believe
  • A rigorous, well-rounded academic education is a cornerstone of a successful life.
  • All students can learn.
  • All students can make a positive impact in the world.
  • School should be a place where all are welcomed, included and respected.
  • The physical and emotional well-being of our students and staff is paramount to learning.
  • Learning is a life-long process.
  • Learning is inspired by skilled, passionate teachers who pursue expertise in their fields and are highly valued by the entire community.
  • Learning includes opportunities to develop resilience and self-advocacy.
  • Learning must foster the ability to relate effectively amidst diverse cultures within a global environment.
