HPISD Board Approves 2025-26 Compensation Plan, Boosts Staff Raises and Starting Teacher Salaries

The pay increase was made possible through the continued support of campus PTA/PTO organizations, contributions from Mad for Plaid, Bond 2024 funding, staffing efficiencies, and the recent passage of HB2. Over the last five years, HPISD has now provided a cumulative 22% pay increase for employees.

Starting teacher salaries will also see a boost, rising from $60,000 to $63,000 — and up to $66,000 for teachers holding a master’s degree — keeping HPISD competitive with surrounding districts.

Additional highlights in the 25-26 compensation plan include:

  • Teachers with one-four years of experience will receive a raise of $4,200
  • Teachers with five years of experience will see a $5,000 increase compared to the 2024-25 school year
  • Teachers with six or more years of experience will receive a $5,000 raise, plus an additional $100 for each year of service (up to 30 years), resulting in a total increase up to 10%

“Our staff are the heart of this district, and investing in them is one of our top priorities,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mike Rockwood. “This increase is a testament to the incredible community support we receive and our commitment to attracting and retaining outstanding educators.”

Assistant Superintendent for Business Services Scott Drillette emphasized the careful planning that made the raises possible. “We’re grateful for the community partnerships and the fiscal discipline that allow us to sustain meaningful compensation increases while remaining financially responsible,” Drillette said.
