Vanhook has been a band director for 27 years, the last four at Otto Middle School in Plano ISD. At each of the six schools where he has taught, band programs have improved and received superior ratings at contests. He has produced sweepstakes-winning bands in four different school districts.
Pfaff has taught for nine years and was most recently the junior high band director in Gatesville ISD. Her specialty is in double reeds but she has also assisted with the high school marching band and varsity symphonic band.
“We are looking forward to having both Mr. Vanhook and Ms. Pfaff join our Raider Band program,” MIS Principal Skip Moran said. “We would ask parents to please encourage their students to continue to practice this summer if they have their instruments. The time they spend on their instruments now will pay big dividends once they are back at school.”
