HP Education Foundation grants more than $1.5 million to HPISD

The grant was made possible thanks to the generosity of all who supported the Mad for Plaid campaign and equates to approximately $5.25 million in recapturable dollars.

HPEF Letter to the community

Our HP community continues to rise to the challenge, moving the needle in teacher and staff salary support for our district. The impact of your support to Mad for Plaid last year translated into a gift totaling $1,575,000 for general salary support and one-time stipends that were given to all HPISD teachers and staff in January.

The Foundation’s success through Mad for Plaid is because of YOU. Your gifts, of all sizes, generated a momentum that has carried the campaign to new heights, positively impacting our teachers now. Before we launch into another school year, we want you to know how grateful we are for your help in continuing the legacy of excellence in our schools.

A special thank you goes to our wonderful Co-chairs and Campus Representatives:

Amy and Peter Hegi, Joanna and David Iliff, Catherine and Mike Sweet
and Shannon and Clinton Warren

MFP Campus Reps

As we approach a new school year, we have exciting news to share. The Foundation Board of Directors has approved a $1.7 million grant request from HPISD that will help provide a 5% increase to district teachers and staff during the 2022-23 school year. This grant will mark the largest amount that HPEF has ever gifted to HPISD solely for districtwide teacher and staff salaries.

“The Foundation is energized by this opportunity to strategically do more for our district,” said Michael Denton, HPEF board president. “While we will still have to fundraise the $1.7 million to meet this request, we are confident that our community will rally behind next year’s Mad for Plaid campaign knowing the impact that it will have on teacher pay.”

We are encouraged by the unwavering generosity of our community and are hopeful YOU will continue to be avid supporters of the Foundation and HPISD, as private funds remain critical to the continuation of the exemplary education we expect in Highland Park. HPEF is committed in our efforts, collaborating with district leadership to ensure we are meeting HPISD's greatest needs. Mad for Plaid cannot be successful without you.

Enjoy the rest of your summer and we look forward to a great year ahead!
