Swim teams take 1st and 2nd at Regionals, qualifiers head to state
The HPHS Blue Wave Swim and Dive girls team took first place and the boys team took second at the UIL Region 4-5A championship meet Feb. 8.
The top two swimmers in each event qualify for the 5A State Championship Meet Feb. 18-19 at the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center at the University of Texas at Austin.
State qualifiers from the girls team include:
- First place - the 200 Medley Relay team of Angelina Huang, Sophia Hemschot, Lindsey Hosch and Kylie Williams
- Second place, 200 Free - Campbell Schultz - 200 Free
- First place, 200 IM - Angelina Huang
- Second place, 200 IM - Sophia Hemschot
- First place, 100 Fly - Lindsey Hosch
- First place - the 200 Free Relay team of Kylie Williams, Corinne Banta, Hannah Hemschot and Sophia Hemschot
- First place, 100 Back - Angelina Huang
- First place, 100 Breast - Lindsey Hosch
- Second place, 100 Breast - Sophia Hemschot
- First place - the 400 Free Relay of Lindsey Hosch, Campbell Schultz, Corinne Banta and Angelina Huang
Boys team qualifiers include:
- Second place - the 200 Medley Relay team of Campbell Whann, Ruihan Zhu, Roman Duong and Marcus Lanio
- Second place - the 200 Free Relay team of Roman Duong, John Caglar, Marcus Lanio and Campbell Whann
- Second place, 100 Breast - Ruihan Zhu

Lindsey Hosch was named Swimmer of the Meet, and broke the pool and team records in the 100 Fly with a time of 55.25 seconds
11 Scot wrestlers advance to region tournament
The Scots varsity qualified 11 wrestlers for the Region III Tournament on the way to a second-place finish at the district championship meet Feb. 2. HP finished strong with all five finalists winning gold.
Varsity finished the regular season with a school-record 36 wins and a second-place district dual finish.
