4 HPHS teams are advancing in their quest for a state championship

Girls Soccer heads to regional final
 
The Lady Scots defeated Frisco Memorial 2-1 in a shoot-out April 6, and will advance to the UIl 5A Region II Finals. They will face Frisco Wakeland at 6 p.m. Friday, April 9 at Mesquite Memorial Stadium.
 
Parker Hart scored the lone goal for HP in regulation and overtime. Quinn Cornog, EmJ Cox, Olivia Walker and Kylie Bell went 4-for-4 in the shootout to keep the Scots undefeated season intact.

Tickets will go on sale at 7 a.m. Friday, April 9, for $5 each, plus a convenience fee. All parking will be on the home side of the stadium, and handicap parking is available. No outside food or drink are allowed in the facility.

Gymnasts head to regional meet
 
Girls Gymnastics head to regionals
 
The HPHS gymnastics teams won their respective district championships and will advance to the regional meet April 13-14 at Rockwall High School.
 
The Lady Scots won their eighth straight district title after a two-day competition April 1-2, led by freshmen Ana Simpson and Lily Ford.
 
Simpson was the top finisher in the All-Around placing second. She was the District Vault Champion and placed fourth on Bars, second on Beam, and third on Floor.
 
Ford was third All-Around, and placed fifth on Vault, second on Bars, was the District Beam Champion, and placed fourth on Floor.

Boys Gymnastics district champs
 
The Scots won their district championship March 30, after winning six of seven meets this year. The team effort over two full days of competition was highlighted by top-three finishes:
 
  • Clayton Staunton - first place, every event
  • Lace Lorio - second-highest optional score on Rings and combined fourth place. 
  • Adam Harper - third on Vault with a handspring full twist 
  • Tristan Brown - third on Vault and Parallel Bars

Girls track & field wins district meet, top 4 qualifiers head to area meet
 
Track&Field advance to area meet
 
The Lady Scots track and field team won the District 13-5A Championship Meet March 29 in Royse City. 
 
Event winners included:
  • Long Jump – Hattie Speicher
  • 3200 M Run – Cameron Fawcett
  • 4 x 100 M Relay – the team of Savanna Hinze, Kate Rossley, Claire Cochran and Katelyn Tanner
  • 800 M Run – Izzy Blalock
  • 100 M Dash – Meredith Sims, with a new school record
  • 4 x 200 M Relay – the team of Katelyn Tanner, Kate Rossley, Caroline Jirovec and Raina Pietrzak
  • 400 M Dash – Izzy Blalock
  • 300 M Hurdles – Savannah Hinze
  • 1600 M Run – Cameron Fawcett
  • 4 x 400 M Relay – the team of Elle Thompson, Izzy Blalock, Cameron Fawcett and Raina Pietrzak
The top four finishers in each event will advance to compete in the Area meet Thursday, April 15 at Joshua High School.
