HPISD to resume regular operations tomorrow

Updated 3:30 p.m., Feb. 21

HPISD to resume regular operations Monday, Feb. 22

Highland Park ISD will open for both in-person and remote instruction tomorrow, Mon. Feb. 22. Thanks to the dedication of our HPISD Maintenance Staff, all district campuses will be prepared to welcome students and staff.

The City of University Park remains under a boil order at this time. Schools located within The City of UP (Hyer, UP, McCulloch, HPMS and HS) will take necessary precautions to keep students and staff safe. Although the school district has a supply of bottled water, it is recommended that you be prepared to send your child to school with extra drinking water as a precautionary measure. Lunches will still be served at these schools and extra steps will be taken to safely serve food. Once the boil order is lifted, the district will implement necessary steps to ensure safety prior to any consumption.

We are looking forward to seeing students and staff back at school!

Original Post on Feb. 10:

HPISD is prepared to teach remotely should weather conditions warrant

HPISD is closely monitoring weather conditions. The forecast now is for rain overnight combined with freezing temperatures. At this time, HPISD is expecting to have in-person school tomorrow but we will let you know if conditions cause any change in plans.

To get ready, teachers have been asked to prepare for remote instruction should deteriorating road conditions cause schools to be closed tomorrow.

Staff members have been asked to:

  • Make sure students have what they need for tomorrow, including technology and any other instructional materials
  • Send an email to parents and/or students this afternoon or evening to provide them the Google Meet information and schedule, in the event that should it be necessary. Again, we are expecting to have in-person school tomorrow.

In the event of inclement weather, the decision on whether to provide remote or in-person instruction will be made by 5:30 a.m. and announced through the following outlets:

  • HPISD text message alert system (Need to sign up? Click here.)
  • HPISD email notification to parents and staff
  • Announcement on hpisd.org
  • Posts on the district's Facebookpage and Twitter feed
  • Main switchboard (214-780-3000). Please remember to call this main number, not the campuses.

For the most accurate and timely information, check district social media channels or the district's official website, www.hpisd.org. The district will also inform television and radio stations. They share such information at their discretion.
