Lady Scots Soccer takes State

For the seventh time, the Highland Park Lady Scots are UIL 5A State Champions, after defeating Mansfield Legacy 2-0 Saturday in Georgetown. With seven, HP has now won more soccer titles than any other boys or girls team in the state of Texas.

Junior Megan O'Neal got the Scots on the board with the first goal of the game shortly after halftime, and sophomore Maja Davison scored the final goal and was named the game's MVP.

"This team has had a singular focus all season long," Head Coach Stewart Brown said. "They accomplished something historic and I could not be any prouder."

"Truly outstanding. There's no other way to say it," HPISD Athletic Director Johnny Ringo said. "This team continued to peak throughout the season. You simply couldn't write a better script. Just like all of our teams, the Scots find a way. What a privilege it has been to watch this team."
