Trustees thanked for years of service

Both Sharpe and Kelly played important roles in the implementation of the 2015 bond program, boundary rezoning for a fifth elementary school, the opening of the first new school in HPISD since 1948, response to the global pandemic and the community’s approval of the Golden Penny election that has funded staff compensation increases.
 
Sharpe served as Board Vice President from February to May 2021 and as Board President from May 2021 until he retired from board service. He also served on various committees including fundraising alignment, boundary rezoning, performance standards, and property acquisitions. Most notably, Sharpe served on and chaired the Fall Reopening Committee and the Pandemic Response Committee, which provided much-needed guidance and support during a challenging time for schools, businesses and communities everywhere.
 
Kelly served as Board Vice President in 2021-22. She emphasized excellence throughout her tenure by serving on committees focused on academics, arts and district communication. Her committee service assignments included accountability and assessment, the elementary #5 planning committee, boundary rezoning, the ELA subcommittee, District Leadership Council and communications. She also served as the board representative for HP Arts and PTA Presidents.
 
Superintendent Dr. Tom Trigg was also honored by trustees with a framed resolution highlighting his contributions to HPISD during his eight years of service.
