Swab Squad recognized as Heart At Work recipients
The HPISD human resources department has offered free COVID testing to staff members since the onset of the pandemic. When classes resumed Jan. 4, the district saw a spike in the number of COVID cases among teachers and staff. A team of HPISD central office staff volunteered to help the HR department with the daily testing requests to meet the needs of staff. Every morning for the past three weeks this group of staff members, affectionately named the "Swab Squad," arrive to work one to two hours early to help administer free COVID tests to HPISD employees. Their dedication and commitment to the health and well-being of their colleagues have not gone unnoticed. This team of 11 staff members has been named Heart At Work awardees.
