Exam for Acceleration

Exams for acceleration are available for students seeking to advance to the next grade or course level without having received prior instruction.

Students in grades 1-6 must score at least 90% in the four core areas: reading, math, science, and social studies.  Students in grades 7-12 may take single subject exams and must score at least 90% to accelerate through the course.

Due to legislation, exams for acceleration are not available for courses for which a STAAR End-of-Course exam is required (English I, English II, Algebra I, Biology, and US History).
