What is the Mutual Sick Benefit Association?
The Highland Park Teachers Mutual Sick Benefit Association is a self-funded plan insuring each other against loss due to sickness. This association is locally organized and managed by elected building insurance representatives.
Highlights of the program include:
- Members receive $60 per day of work missed, beginning with the fourth consecutive day. The maximum number of days paid is fifteen ($900)
- The annual premium is $30 for teachers, instructional assistants, administrative assistants, and clerks.
- The annual premium is $35 for administrators.
- A year's premium pays for coverage on all work days from September 1 of a year to August 31 of the next year.
- Participants must be employed a minimum of 50% of the time to be eligible.
The membership fee of $30 for teachers and $35 for administrators must be submitted to the MSB building representative no later than September 30th of the calendar year.
Building insurance representatives handle enrollment of new association members. Representatives for the 2006-2007 school year are:

To apply for benefits, complete the Request for MSB Benefits form and submit it to the Personnel Department for approval.
