Highland Park High School Summer School 2008
Registration Information

Registration for HPHS Summer School 2008 will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2008 from 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. in the front lobby of the high school.  Please note the following information regarding the summer school class offering, schedules, and the cost.

A:  The following credit recovery courses and six non sequence courses will be offered, contingent on sufficient student enrollment.

Credit Recovery Courses :
Algebra I A & B
Geometry A & B
Algebra 2 A & B
World Geography A & B
World History A & B
U.S. History A & B
Biology A & B
Chemistry A & B
Integrated Physics and Chemistry A & B (IPC)

Non-Sequence/Original Credit Course:
Speech
TAG Speech (requires teacher approval)
Health
P.E.
Government (must have at least sophomore standing)
Economics (must have at least sophomore standing)

School hours:
Monday - Friday  7:30 a.m.  - 12:45 p.m.

Cost:
Currently enrolled HPISD students: $350.00 per session/semester  (cost subject to change)
Not currently enrolled HPISD students: $450.00 per session/semester  (cost subject to change)

B.  The following Accelerated/In Sequence Original Credit courses will be offered, contingent on sufficient student enrollment.  These courses require all enrolled students to take both summer sessions in the same summer to earn full credit for the course.

Accelerated Original Credit Course:  eligible students will have earned no less than a 90% in every grading period in Algebra 1 throughout their 9th grade year.             
                                                               
Accelerated Geometry:  This course helps prepare rising sophomores with strong math skills to move from standard level instruction to the more rigorous advanced placement sequence.  Students taking accelerated geometry may then have the scheduling opportunity to take AP Calculus as a high school senior.

School hours:
Due to the prerequisite nature of these courses, class hours are extended and modified
Monday - Thursday:  7:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. with a 30 minute lunch break
Friday:  9:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. (office hours with teacher)

Cost:
Currently enrolled HPISD students: $1,000.00 per course  (cost subject to change)
Not currently enrolled HPISD students: $1,200.00 per course  (cost subject to change)
