Highland Park High School has partnered with the Beijing National Day School (BNDS), since 2014, to offer a mutual exchange program. BNDS serves students in primary and secondary levels. BNDS secondary students can participate in studies through one of five programs:

  • National Curriculum
  • Foreign Student Courses
  • Cambridge A Level
  • AP Courses (USA)
  • International Baccalaureate Curriculum

This exchange program is designed for each school to send a visiting group every other year. HPHS representatives will visit during the first two weeks of June every other year. BNDS representatives will visit HPISD for two weeks in February every other year. HPHS sent their first group of 8 visitors in June of 2015 and BNDS students visited in Feb. of 2016. BNDS will send a teacher group to HPISD January of 2017. This summer will be HPISD's second trip to BNDS.

Visitors stay with host families, attend school daily and visit local attractions. Students are eligible to apply during their Freshman-Junior year. Participants who are currently taking Mandarin will be given priority; however, students who are not studying the language will also be considered.
