Gena Gardiner is the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction & Special Programs. Prior to her arrival at Highland Park in 2002, she served as Director of Instructional Improvement K-12 & Community Development for the Weatherford ISD. Ms. Gardiner began her education career in 1977 as a fifth-grade teacher at First Baptist Academy in Dallas. She has served as a part-time instructor at the University of Texas at Tyler. In 1980, she joined the Henderson Independent School District as a first-grade teacher. In 1987 she was named Principal of Central Elementary School. She remained in the Henderson district through 2000, serving as Chamberlain Elementary School Principal, then as Director of Elementary Curriculum/Instruction & Executive Director of the HISD Education Foundation. She holds numerous memberships in professional and civic organizations. Ms. Gardiner is a leader in her field, and has been a presenter to numerous state and national organizations and committees.
